CARICOM energy Ministers to meet amidst rising oil prices
Energy ministers from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be meeting in Guyana on Thursday amidst the current volatility of oil prices on the world market.
The 35th Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) will be preceded by a meeting of energy officials on Tuesday.
A CARICOM statement said the COTED will scrutinise an overview of the energy situation and trends in CARICOM as well as national and regional responses to global developments.
It also said the ministers are expected to consider, endorse and provide direction to those responses.
The statement also indicated that the COTED will review a report on a Regional Energy Sector Assessment commissioned by the CARICOM Secretariat with the support of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) in 2010.
