JFF acknowledges work of Gaynor

The Jamaica Football Federation has extended condolences to the family of 45 year old former national defender, Barrington 'Cobra' Gaynor.
In a release JFF President Captain Horace Burrell noted that the overwhelming positive memorable thoughts of the late ‘Cobra’ urge the football fraternity to reflect on and treasure these thoughts.
He said that even as the JFF mourns his loss they believe he lived a rich and positive life.
Burrell said Cobra helped in laying a firm foundation for the growth of Jamaica's football and will be sadly missed by the entire football and sporting fraternity.
Gaynor leaves behind his wife, Nyoka and daughters.
He died this morning at the Westchester Medical Centre in the United States, after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), more commonly known as the Lou Gehrig's disease.
The disease had made him wheelchair bound since 2008.
Gaynor was a member of the Camperdown High School's triple winning 1982 urban area Manning, Walker Cup and all-island Olivier Shield teams.
His most notable accomplishments as a player was being a member of Jamaica's historic team which won the Shell Caribbean Cup in 1991 and which placed third at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 1993.
Chairman of the Premier League Clubs Association (PLCA) & the Professional Football Association of Jamaica (PFAJ) Edward Seaga also expressed condolences.
