West Indies to face Pakistan in quarter final

West Indies captain Darren Sammy says the Caribbean side will have to step up its game to make further progress in the Cricket World Cup.
Sammy’s comment came after another batting collapse condemned West Indies to an 80-run defeat against co-hosts India in the final Group-B preliminary match at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai yesterday.
West Indies set a victory target of 269 from their allocation of 50 overs, were dismissed for 188 with 42 balls remaining despite opener Devon Smith hitting 81 from 97 balls.
Earlier, Ravi Rampaul ended with a career-best five for 51 to help bowled out India for 268 with five deliveries remaining.
West Indies will now travel to Dhaka in Bangladesh to play Pakistan, who topped Group-A, in the first quarter-final game at the Sher-e-Bangla Stadium on Wednesday.
The game is scheduled to bowl off at 3.30 a.m. on Wednesday Jamaica time.
West Indies had virtually qualified for the quarter-finals before the match had started. They finished fourth in the group.
The remaining quarter-finals game are co-hosts India against Australia on Thursday at Ahmedabad in India, New Zealand playing South Africa on Friday at Dhaka in Bangladesh and co-hosts Sri Lanka against England on Saturday at Colombo in Sri Lanka.
