The Syrian cabinet has resigned after days of anti-government protests across the country.
The resignation is the latest concession by the government aimed at curbing more than a week of mass protests.
President Bashar al-Assad accepted the cabinet's resignation following a meeting today, and will address the nation in the next 24 hours to announce that he is lifting the emergency law and restrictions on civil liberty.
In the meantime, the president appointed outgoing Prime Minister Muhammad Naji Otari as caretaker prime minister of the new government.
More than 60 people were reportedly killed as a result of the pro-democracy protests.
