A 25-year-old Bermudian, dubbed the “Facebook Fugitive” was sentenced to nine years in prison, by the Supreme Court, after he was found guilty of conspiring to shoot a gangster.

Alvone Maybury pleaded guilty to conspiring with other persons between December 11 and 17, 2009, to cause grievous bodily harm to Raymond Rawlins.

Rawlins was later shot dead in a separate incident last August.

Maybury told the court that he wanted to apologise to his family for letting them down and said he would use his time in prison to improve himself.
