Samuels recalled to West Indies squad

Jamaican stroke-maker Marlon Samuels was recalled to the West Indies squad for the first time in three years, after being named in a 13-man squad for the 20/20 International against Pakistan later this month.
The 30-year-old right-hander had been sidelined from international cricket after being slapped with a two-year ban in 2008 for inappropriate ties to a bookie. The suspension ended last year.
Samuels stormed back into the selectors’ favour after amassing 830 runs in the Regional First Class Championship, the most by any player.
There are three other Jamaicans listed in the squad. They are powerful right-handed batsman Danza Hyatt and left-arm seamer Krishmar Santokie, who are among four uncapped players, and pacer Andre Fletcher.
The other uncapped players are Christopher Barnwell and Ashley Nure, while veterans Shivnarine Chanderpaul and Ramnaresh Sarwan have been omitted.
Chris Gayle, Kieron Pollard and Dwayne Bravo were ineligible for selection after missing this year’s Caribbean 20/20 Championship.
The other members of the squad are Darren Sammy, captain, Devendra Bishoo, Darren Bravo, Andre Fletcher, Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Andre Russell and Lendl Simmons.
The lone 20/20 contest will be played on April 21 in St Lucia.
The West Indies, Pakistan series also includes five One Day International matches, the first of which is on April 23 and a two-Test series, commending on May 12.
