Jamaica’s bid for a top-three finish in the CONCACAF Women’s Under 17 Final Round tournament suffered a major setback last night at the Dwight Yorke Stadium in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Young Reggae Girls suffered a 6- defeat to Mexico in their opening Group ‘B’ match.

The Jamaicans were out of the game from very early after allowing three goals within the first 20 minutes.

The Reggae Girls faces a tough challenge against CONCACAF giants Canada in the second match tomorrow, with defeat ending their hopes of advancing to the semi-final.

In the earlier, Group ‘B’ game, Canada stopped Puerto Rico 3-0.

Action in Group ‘A’ begins today at the Marvin Lee Stadium with the United States against Costa Rica and hosts Trinidad and Tobago playing El Salvador.

The top three teams in the eight-nation competition will qualify for the October 28 to November 16 FIFA Under-17 Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.
