STETHS retain Headley Cup title

St Elizabeth Technical High School (STETHS), defeated Grace Shield champions Innswood High by 38 runs this morning to retain the ISSA all-island Spalding Cup title at Chedwin Park in St Catherine.



As a result of the victory, STETHS finished the season with all three senior titles having won the Jamaica International Insurance Company knockout title and the Grace Headley Cup earlier.



Innswood High, set a victory target of 227 to lift their first Spalding Cup title, were dismissed for 188 after 50 minutes of play on today’s final day of the three-day final.



The St Catherine-based school had resumed this morning on 150 for six.

Off-spinners Orane Linton was the most successful bowler for STETHS with six for 60.



Terrence Brown top scored for Innswood High with 39, while Orane Williams chipped in with 37.



Scores in the match are STETHS 127 and 162, Innswoods High 63 and 188.



The final was a repeat of last season’s playoff, which was won by STETHS.
