CARIFTA Games opens today

The 40th staging of the CARIFTA Games opened this morning at the Montego Bay Sports Complex with host country Jamaica highly fancied to win their 27th consecutive title.
The annual track and field championships, which attract the region’s top junior athletes, will be held over three days.
Eight hundred athletes from 26 countries are down to compete at the 2011 edition.
The event will be broadcasted 'live' across the region through a partnership between the Caribbean Media Corporation, and the games' main sponsor, LIME.
Jamaica and The Bahamas have both named 70-member squads for the Games.
