Bigga Jamaica Oaks gets underway at Caymanas Park

The season’s third Classic race the Bigga Jamaica Oaks over two thousand metres takes place at Caymanas Park today with 13 native-bred three-year-old fillies declared to face the starter.
Top contenders are the recent One Thousand Guineas winner NIPHAL, with Shane Ellis again riding her for leading trainer Gary Subratie; the Guineas third-place finisher CARIDAD, to be ridden by Allen Maragh for 14-time champion trainer Philip Feanny; along with PALACE GOLD and RIGHT MARKER.
A notable absentee from the lineup is the Guineas runner-up, TREASURE GIRL, who is in Trinidad and Tobago preparing for the twin-island republic’s Triple Crown series.
With no TREASURE GIRL around, NIPHAL will more than likely start favourite to repeat over the longer distance of the Oaks.
There are 10 other races on the card and post time is 12:15 p.m.
