Sri Lanka stage strong fightback

Sri Lanka’s openers batted their team back into contention of the second Test against hosts England with a record double-century stand at Lord’s today.



Captain Tillakaratne Dilshan 127 not out and Tharanga Paranavitana 65 put on 207, their team's highest first-wicket partnership against England, as the tourists responded to 486 with 231 for one on day two of the N-Power Test.



Steven Finn took the only wicket to fall by dismissing Paranavitana.



Earlier, Matt Prior who resumed on 73 with England on 342 for six completed his fifth Test century. He was eventually dismissed for 126.



England are 1-nil up already in the three-match N-Power Test series after their remarkable innings victory in Cardiff.
