Jamaica looks for second round berth in Gold Cup
Jamaica will field an unchanged starting eleven as they go in search of a quarter-final spot at the 2011 Gold Cup this evening against Guatemala in the opening match of a Group ‘B’ double-header at Florida International University.
The starting eleven reads:- Donovan Ricketts in goal, Jermaine Taylor, Shavar Thomas, Dicoy Williams, Eric Vernan, Rudolph Austin, Jason Morrison, Demar Phillips, Dane Richards, Luton Shelton and Ryan Johnson.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6 o’clock in the evening Jamaica time.
Victory for Jamaica will qualify the team for the quarterfinal stage of the competition; even though they have one more match to play in the four-team preliminary round.
Twelve teams are participating in the 11th staging of the tournament in three groups. The top two teams in each group, plus the two best third-placed teams will advance to the quarterfinals.
The Boyz lead Group ‘B’ with three points following a 4-0 victory over regional neighbours Grenada. They are two points ahead of Guatemala and Honduras.
Hondura will face Grenada in the second game.
