Jamaican athlete tests positive
The Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) has instructed the local organising committee to pull an athlete from its team who has tested positive for a banned substance.
The Jamaican track and field delegation is now travelling to China for an 11-day training camp, starting on Thursday at the Tianjin Training Camp, just outside of Beijing.
President of the JOA, Mike Fennell, said the local organising committee received communication to pull the athlete from the team earlier today.
Fennell declined to name the athlete citing that he is waiting on a formal communication from the International Association of Athletics Federation.
A reliable source told Gleaner/Power106FM the athlete who tested positive is overseas-based and had qualified for the sprint relay squad.
