Reggae Boyz qualify for quarterfinals of Gold Cup

Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz are now gearing up for a top-of-the-table Gold Cup Group ‘B’ match against Honduras on Monday after booking their tickets to the quarterfinals of the tournament last night at the Florida International University.



The Reggae Boyz became the second team to reach the quarterfinals by defeating 10-man Guatemala 2-nil.



Demar Phillips scored both goals to lead Jamaica to six points atop Group ‘B’ and put them into the knockout round for the fifth time and first since 2005.



Honduras are second in the group with four points after a 7-1 hammering of Caribbean team Grenada in the second game last night.



Two Group ‘C’ matches are scheduled for today at the Raymond James Stadium. The games are Canada against Guadeloupe at 6:00 p.m.and hosts United States tackling Panama at 8:00 p.m.
