Almost four months after a 6.3 magnitude quake that killed 181 people in Christchurch, New Zealand, two powerful aftershocks yesterday hit the city causing more damage.

The first tremor measured 5.2, and one hour and 20 minutes later, the second one recording 6.0 struck, shaking buildings and causing injuries.

The BBC reports that a week ago, Christchurch was also hit by two shocks which increased nervousness in the city.

Mayor Bob Parker reportedly told Radio New Zealand there were new fears about the safety of the Christchurch Cathedral.
