More than 40 Chinese miners trapped

Rescuers in southern China are trying to reach more than 40 trapped workers in two coal mines after one pit was flooded and the other caved in.

The rescue workers are venting explosive gas and pumping water from a caved in mine in the Guangxi region, where three miners have died.

Flooding has continued to hamper rescue work at the other mine in the neighbouring province of Guizhou.

Heavy rain is said to be the cause of both incidents.
