Chanice Porter mines silver for Jamaica

Chanice Porter of Manchester High School and Olivia James of Vere Technical High School won bronze medals for Jamaica at the World Youth Championships yesterday.
As a result of yesterday’s medals, Jamaica have improved their tally to five including two gold and three bronze.
Porter cleared 1.82metres to finish third for the bronze medal in the girl’s high jump final.
Ligia Grozav of Romania and Iryna Herashchenko of Ukraine both recorded world youth-leading clearance of 1.87 metres. However, Grozav was rewarded with the gold medal.
Later in the day, James clocked a personal-best 52.14 for third place in the girls’ 400-metre final. Shaunae Miller of the Bahamas won the gold medal in a personal-best 51.84. Chris-Ann Gordon of Jamaica finished a disappointed seventh in 53.31.
