Omar McLeod hunts gold in 400 hurdles

Omar McLeod of Manchester High School will contest the boys’ 400-metre hurdles final on today’s fourth and penultimate day of the World Youth Championships in Lille, France. The final is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m. Jamaica time.



McLeod advanced to the medal round after a fourth place finish in Heat 2 of the semi-finals on Tuesday. He advanced with a time of 51.91 seconds, the fifth fastest qualifying time.



Later in the day, O’Dail Todd of Green Island High School will try to stay on course for a double sprint medal. He contests Heat 2 of the boys’ 200 metre semi-finals at 10:40.



Todd won the gold medal in the boys’ 100 metres on Thursday.



Shericka Jackson and Kadisha Dallas will also try to qualify for the medal round of sprint event. Jackson competes in Heat 1 of the girls’ 200 metres, while Dallas runs in Heat 3.
