Edwards to join Gayle at Sydney for Big Bash
West Indies speedster Fidel Edwards will link up with sidelined West Indies star batsman Chris Gayle in the Australian Big Bash Twenty20 championship.
Edwards has been signed by the Sydney Thunder.
The deal comes just weeks after the 29-year-old Edwards returned to international cricket following a two-year break to treat a back injury that required surgery.
Edwards will form part of a formidable pace duo along with left-arm seamer Doug Bollinger, who was also named as part of Sydney’s side.
In his first series back, Edwards finished as the leading wicket-taker in the three Tests against the Indians, snaring 19 wickets and bowling with pace and hostility.
The last of his 12 Twenty20 Internationals for West Indies came during the World Twenty20 Championship in England back in 2009.
The Big Bash bowls off in December.
