Jamaica defeat Puerto Rico at tennis

Jamaica secured a successful start to the inaugural Central America and Caribbean 12 and Under Team Tennis Championships in El Salvador by defeating Puerto Rico 2-1 yesterday.
The team of Roger Lyn and Dimitri Bird defeated Ignacio Garcia and Eduardo Fuertes.
In the opening match, Lyn had to retire at 3-all against Garcie due to medical reasons.
Bird came back from a set down to defeat Fuertes 4-5, 4-1, 4-2 to equalise the tie at 1-all. In the deciding doubles match, Bird and Lyn defeated Fuertes and Garcia 5-3, 4-2 to clinch the tie.
Jamaica are scheduled to face the Dominican Republic in their second match.
Other countries in the competition are Nicaragua, Honduras, Bahamas, Surinam, El Salvador, St Lucia and US Virgin Islands.
