Jamaica to arrive in Bahamas tomorrow for basketball championships

Jamaica’s contingent to the Caribbean Basketball Championships is scheduled to arrive in The Bahamas tomorrow for the tournament.



Jamaica are the defending champions.



They will start their title defence against Antigua and Barbuda in the opening game of the tournament Saturday.



Both sides are contesting Group ‘A’, which also features the United States Virgin Islands and Turks and Caicos Islands.



The top three teams will advance to the Centro Basket Championship, which is contested among the top eight countries in the Central American and Caribbean region.



Jamaican have been strengthened by two other overseas players -- Patrick Ewing Jr and Rohan Reid.



Andrew Whilby and Linval Brown are the only locally based players in Jamaica’s squad.
