Ecuador to revive banana talks

Ecuador is pushing to revive failed banana talks with the European Union in October.

Ecuador and other Latin American banana-producing countries want the EU to slash its banana import tariff on its production.

A deal to cut tariffs for Latin American bananas imported into the world\'s biggest banana market collapsed last week.

The talks broke down, after wider free trade talks failed at a World Trade Organisation (WTO) meeting in Geneva.

Ecuador\'s chief negotiator, Mentor Villagomez said his country would continue its legal action on that matter, to create pressure to solve the banana row.
