Dance So Sweet beats Ronron

DANCE SO SWEET, with title-chasing jockey Dick Cardenas, scored an easy six-and-a-half-length victory over his former stable companion, the outstanding filly RONRON in the Eileen Cliggott Trophy, the feature race at Caymanas Park today.



The American filly RONRON, who was searching for her 10th win from 11 starts, was racing for the first time since taking orders from champion trainer Wayne DaCosta. She was backed as the red-hot 1-to-4 favourite in the field of six.



The Gary Subratie-trained DANCE SO SWEET, who went off as the 7-5 second choice, was the third winner on the card for Cardenas. The Panamanian jockey also won aboard INVICTUS in Race 2 and KIPLING WEEKEND in Race 3.



As a result of the three victories, Cardenas has cut into Shane Ellis’ lead in the jockeys’ standing. Cardenas has moved to 48 winners, one behind Ellis who had one winner in SIR VON in Race 7.
