England bowl India out on final day to win Lord’s Test

James Anderson claimed a five-wicket haul as hosts England stormed to a 196-run victory over India on today’s final day of a thrilling opening Test at Lord's.



Needing nine wickets on the fifth day to win, England made the perfect start, removing three batsmen in the morning session on their way to bowl out India for 261 runs.



The visitors had resumed this morning on 80 for one. Suresh Raina top scored for India with 78, while VVS Laxman supported with 56 and Rahul Dravid scored 36. Sachin Tendulkar was dismissed by Anderson for 12.



Anderson ended with figures of five for 65 from 28 overs and Stuart Broad had three for 57 from 20 point 3 overs.



Final scores in the match:- England 474 for 8 declared and 269 for 6 declared; India 286 and 261.
