Sweden: National record holder Gonzales claims first in 400m

National record holder Jermaine Gonzales competed in the men’s 400 metres early this afternoon, racing to the finish line to claim first place with a time of 44.64 seconds.



He was first Jamaican in action this afternoon at the Diamond League meet in Stockholm, Sweden today.



Eight other Jamaicans are also down to compete in Stockholm.



Jamaica’s double world record holder Usain Bolt will race for the final time before the Daegu World Championships in South Korea when he competes at the Diamond League meet.



Bolt will run the men’s 200 metres which is scheduled to start at 2:45 this afternoon Jamaica time.



The race also includes Bolt’s Jamaican teammates Marvin Anderson and Ainsley Waugh.



Jamaican sprinters Kerron Stewart and Schillonie Calvert will face off with American Carmelita Jeter in the women’s 100 metres at 1:25 pm, while national record holder Dwight Thomas is down to contest the men’s 110-metre hurdles.



Other Jamaicans down to run are Nickiesha Wilson, Melaine Walker and Kaliese Spencer in the women’s 400-metre hurdles and Kenia Sinclair in the women’s 800 metres.
