The country’s top sprinters, 100-metre record holder Usain Bolt, Asafa Powell and Veronica Campbell Brown are among a list of 100 persons who will receive national award this year.

The awards will be presented on National Heroes Day in October.

Bolt, Powell and Campbell Brown have been conferred with the Order of Distinction at the officer rank.

All three will receive the honour for achievement in the field of athletics.

Bolt is the big favourite to win the sprint double at the Beijing Olympics.

Bolt, a 200-metre specialist, has improved his 100-metre personal best of 10.03 seconds to a world record 9.72 in 10 months.
