Trinidadian Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar is demanding an apology from Opposition senator Fitzgerald Hinds for statements he made about her during a press conference last Wednesday.

Lawyers representing the prime minister said the statements were understood to mean that Persad-Bissessar, is a person who is insincere, dishonest and unethical in her capacity as prime minister.

Persad-Bissessar said if Hinds does not apologise she intends to file an injunction in the High Court restraining him from further slander against her.

Attorneys representing Persad-Bissessar yesterday issued a six-page pre-action protocol letter to Hinds giving him 14 days to respond.
