Young Reggae Boyz return home

Jamaica’s Under-23 footballers returned home from Suriname today after failing to qualify for the Caribbean Football Union’s second round qualifiers for the 2012 London Olympics.



The young Reggae Boyz had their hopes shattered by a last-minute controversial penalty in a 2-2 draw against hosts Suriname yesterday. The game was played at the Andre Kamperveen Stadium.



Both teams ended on seven points, but Suriname topped the group as a result of a far superior goal difference.



Suriname will now join Group ‘B’ winner Trinidad and Tobago, Group ‘C’ winner Cuba, and Group ‘D’ winner St Kitts and Nevis in the next Caribbean qualifying round. Two of these four will qualify for the CONCACAF round.
