Colombia's soccer coach Hernan Dario Gomez has resigned following reports he struck a woman in a bar.

The Colombian soccer federation says in a statement that Gomez assumed the consequences of his acts.

The widely reported confrontation took place Saturday at a bar in Bogota. Gomez says he lost control and regretted what happened.

The federation says it will meet in the next 10 days but gave no indication when a new coach might be hired.
