The Security Minister in Guyana Clement Rohee has criticised the Inter-American Development Bank’s (IDB), handling of a component of a US$22 million Citizens’ Security Programme it has financed.

Mr. Rohee said the IDB was ignoring the realities of Guyanese.

He said the administration wanted programmes that would empower youths and provide them with the requisite training and skills so they could better serve their communities.

The community component of the IDB programme, about which Rohee has expressed concerns, is valued at US$3 million.

He said the government has since written to the IDB requesting a redefining of the community action component of the citizen security programme.
