St. Kitts main opposition People’s Action Movement has urged the Denzil Douglas government to follow the example of Trinidad and Tobago and implement a limited state of emergency to deal with the crime situation in the federation.

Opposition legislator Shawn Richards said the move by the Kamla Persad Bissessar administration indicates that she is prepared to tackle the crime problem.

On Sunday night, Prime Minister Persad Bissessar said that the limited state of emergency would be for hot spots, as her administration battles to deal with an upsurge in criminal activities including the murder of 11 people in 48 hours.
