Libyan rebels have announced a bounty of US$1.7 million for the capture or killing of Colonel Muammar Gaddafi by any one in his inner circle.

Gaddafi's whereabouts are unknown, although rebels have said they think he is still in or around Tripoli.

Rebels have fought running battles in the capital, where pockets of Gaddafi supporters remain.

In an audio message released yesterday, the fugitive leader vowed to fight until the death.
