Premier League football season postponed

The Premier League Clubs’ Association (PLCA), has decided to postpone the start of its new football season in order to finalise sponsorship arrangements.
Matches were scheduled to start on Sunday, August 28 for the Premier League, but these have now been pushed back to September.
The Premier League will now start on Sunday, September 11.
General manager of the PLCA, Latoya DaCosta said the sponsors had requested another week to finalise their arrangements with the league.
However, DaCosta said a further week was possible because the national players would not be available for the start of the new season.
Jamaica are scheduled to face Ecuador in a friendly international on September 2.
The PLCA did not name the sponsors for the new season during a press briefing yesterday at its offices to announce the new date.
However, the PLCA is expected to announce several sponsorship deals for the new season in the coming week.
Digicel’s three-year $150-million Premier League contract expired at the end of last season.
