Hundreds of workers at the state owned Telecommunications Company in the Bahamas are on strike.

The workers, led by their unions, are demanding that the government allow them to a have a say in the privatisation of the Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited.

Robert Farquharson of the Bahamas Communications and Public Officers Union, which represents most of the workers, said the unions are also upset over protracted contractual negotiations.
