Health experts in Venezuela are probing the cause of the deaths of nearly 40 indigenous Indians in the east of the country, close to the Guyana border.

It is suspected that rabies carried by vampire bats could be the cause.

The government, which is investigating the deaths, has been supplying locals with mosquito nets to try to prevent further cases.
