Samantha fails to improve ranking
First-time Olympian Samantha Albert failed to improved her rankings on the third and final stage of the equestrian events at the 2008 Beijing Games.
The British-based Albert, who improved 10 places to 42 of the 60 riders going into the show jumping stage last night, was disqualified aboard ‘Before I do it’.
The 14 year old mare was eliminated from the competition after failing to jump twice.
Albert created history by being the first Jamaica to compete in equestrian at the Olympics.
Germany German Hinrich Romeike, riding Marius, won the individual gold medal in equestrian eventing.
His score of 54.2 penalty points edged US rider Gina Miles on McKinlaigh for silver with 56.1.
Miles moved up from fifth after two jumping rounds with no penalties.
Kristina Cook of Britain took the bronze on Miners Frolic with 57.4, moving up from seventh.
The Equestrian events took place in Hong Kong.
