Cheaper fertilser for Dominica
The Dominica government says it has held talks with Venezuela to provide agricultural products at a cheaper price to local farmers.
Agriculture Minister, Matthew Walter yesterday said an arrangement has been forged in relation to providing Dominica with fertiliser at a reasonable cost.
Farmers have been voicing concerns over the high cost of agricultural inputs claiming that it could force them out of the sector.
A shortage of fertiliser has added to their woes at a time when the government has called for farmers to increase productivity.
The farmers say the high cost of inputs was affecting production.
Import Distributors Limited the main suppliers of agricultural inputs in Dominica, announced it has had to reduce its profits in order to keep prices at a fair level to farmers.
