Football: Reggae Boyz beaten by Colombia
Jamaica’s local-based players returned from Fort Lauderdale earlier today following the Reggae Boyz 2-nil defeat to South American team Colombia in a friendly football international last night at the Lockhart Stadium.
The defeat was the fourth straight for Jamaica.
A 55th minute goal from Teofilo Guitierrez and a 91st minute strike by substitute Jackson Martinez ensured the losing streak, which started in June at the CONCACAF Gold Cup continued.
The Jamaicans entered the match desparate for victory following recent losses against China and Ecuador.
The Reggae Boyz were beaten 1-nil by China on August 10 and 5-2 by Ecuador on Friday.
The Boyz will now have to wait for the next international fixture, possibly in October, to try and break the disappointing run.
In other international friendly yesterday, Belgium defeated the United States 1-nil, Ecuador whipped Costa Rica 4-nil, Czech Republic turned back Ukraine 4-nil, while Poland and Germany battled to a 2-all draw.
