Twenty-six people are now dead after a plane crashed in Angola around midday today.

Government officials say three army generals are among those killed.

The spokesman for the Huambo provincial authorities, Luis Caetano, said the military aircraft crashed after leaving the city’s airport.

According to Caetano, six people survived the crash, including the pilot and co-pilot.

Correspondents said the aircraft was a relatively new Embraer jet purchased by the army to transport top officials.
