West Indies, Bangladesh play to a draw

The opening Test between West Indies and hosts Bangladesh at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium ended in a draw today after two days were lost because of rain.
West Indies, resuming this morning on 144 for five replying to Bangladesh’s first innings of 350, were bowled out for 244.
Bangladesh debutant Elias Sunny grabbed six wickets for 94. Captain Darren Sammy top scored for West Indies with 58 from 43 balls.
Shivnarine Chanderpaul was the next best scorer for West Indies with 49, while Kraigg Brathwaite scored 33 and Carlton Baugh 30.
Batting a second time and leading by 106 runs, Bangladesh declared on 119 for three at tea for an overall lead of 225 runs.
Seamers Darren Sammy and Ravi Rampaul, and spinner Marlon Samules each took one wicket.
West Indies batting a second time reached 100 for two before the game was called off. Kirk Edwards 28 and Darren Bravo 24 were the batsmen at the crease.
Lendl Simmons scored 44.
Final scores in the match, Bangladesh 350 for nine declared and 119 for three declared; West Indies 244 and 100 for two.
The second and final Test starts on Saturday in Dhaka.
