Major Mayer hard to oppose

The Alty McKenzie Memorial Cup over 1600 metres is the feature event on today’s midweek card at Caymanas Park.



The race is confined to the claiming group of $300,000 to $350,000.



A field of nine has been declared for the event including Superstakes winner Major Mayer, who is down in class.



The eight-year-old chestnut gelding is much better than this level and is expected to win very easily.



Competent claiming apprentice Robert Halledeen has the ride.



Doctor Devious, Out for Justice and Aoki Lei expected to fight for the minor places.



There are eight other races on the programme and post time is 1 p.m. today.
