Barbados has lost its ranking as the top developing nation.
The country, which has been ranked the world’s number one developing nation for more than a decade, lost its position in the latest United Nations league tables on quality of life.
The United Nations Human Development Index ranked Barbados forty seventh, 5 places from its ranking in 2010.
Chile and Argentina moved up one place, along with Latvia which moved up one notch and Croatia, which surged by five places to sit just ahead of Barbados.
The closest Caribbean rivals on the index are Cuba in fifty first position and The Bahamas at 50 third.
