A delegation from China is now in Barbados to observe the parliamentary system of government in the CARICOM country.

The delegation is in Barbados as part of a visit to three CARICOM countries.

The group has already visited Suriname and is expected in Antigua and Barbuda later this week.

It is being led by the Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress, Chen Changzhi.

The delegation will pay courtesy calls on the Deputy Speaker and President of the House and Senate and will visit the Parliament on Tuesday.

Barbados has one of the oldest parliamentary systems in the Western hemisphere and Chen said that the delegation hopes to learn from each other.
