Jamaica/Canada face off
Jamaica’s Reggae Boyz will open the semi-final round of the CONCACAF Group Two World Cup qualifying against hosts Canada at the BMO field this evening.
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6.30 Jamaica time.
The Reggae Boyz, with 10-overseas based player in their squad, will be without key defender Tyrone Marshall, who suffered a quadriceps injury over a week ago.
This has opened the door for the inexperienced local-based player Obrian Woodbine, who plays at right full back.
The game is being played at the home ground of Marshall’s club, Toronto FC, whose artificial turf presents some concern for technical director Rene Simoes.
Simoes said the artificial turf is unfamiliar to his team.
The Canadians are ranked 79th by FIFA, 29 places above Jamaica.
