West Indies beat Bermuda
West Indies defeated Bermuda by six wickets in their first match of the Tri Nation Series at the Maple Leaf North West Ground in Toronto, Canada yesterday.
Bermuda, sent in to bat, scored a modest 158 for nine off their allotted 50 overs against the bowling of Jamaican left-arm spin bowler Nikita Miller three for 19 and pace bowler Kemar Roache two for 29.
Set 159 to win, West Indies overcame a small hiccup before cantering to their target for the loss of four wickets off 31.5 overs.
Ramnaresh Sarwan, who was appointed captain in Chris Gayle’s absence, stroked an unbeaten 49 from 58 balls.
Shawn Findlay 41 and the two debutants Leon Johnson and Brendan Nash, who made 27 each, supported him.
The West Indies will next face Canada tomorrow before the best two teams clash in Sunday’s final.
West Indies are using the Tri-Nation Series as a build up to the Champions Trophy in Pakistan.
