Portmore United, Humble Lion record victories

End-of-first-Round champions Portmore United recorded a 1-0 victory over Humble Lion last night to increase their lead atop the points’ table of the Red Stripe National Premier League.



The game was played at Ferdie Neita Park in Portmore. Tremaine Stewart scored the only goal of the match in the 72nd minute.



Portmore United have now won both games in the second round to move to 24 points. They are three clear of Waterhouse, who edged Reno 2-1 at Drewsland Stadium to move to second place.



Champions Tivoli Gardens, who were a point behind Portmore United, suffered a big setback with a home defeat. They lost 2-0 to arch rivals Arnett Gardens at the Edward Sega Sports Complex.



Following the defeat, Tivoli Gardens have slipped to third place in the standings.



In other games, Harbour View and Highgate United played to a 1-1 draw, Sporting Central Academy beat last place Village United 2-1, while Boys’ Town and Montego Bay United battled to a 1-1 draw.
