PPP wins in Guyana

The People’s Progressive Party in Guyana has won a fifth consecutive term in office in general elections held on Monday but there is news that the country could be headed for turbulent political times.



This is because the two main opposition parties now have full control of the 65-seat parliament for the first time in history.



In official results this afternoon Chief Elections Officer Gocool Boodhoo named Donald Ramotar as president of the English-speaking republic.
