PM Kenny Anthony names cabinet
Prime Minister Dr. Kenny Anthony yesterday named his new Cabinet, more than a week after he led his St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) to a commanding victory in the November 28 general election.
The new ministers were sworn in at the House of Parliament with Anthony saying that they would be faced immediately with a number of challenges and opportunities.
Anthony said the Cabinet, which will consist of 10 elected and four appointed members, will have to deal with high unemployment, sluggish economic growth, a battered national infrastructure, education, health care and social services.
In explaining his choice for ministerial appointments, Anthony explained that his goal was to come up with an arrangement that was logical and would facilitate the development of important synergies across ministries and departments.
