Windies ready for tri-series
The West Indies turned in a good performance a short while ago to beat hosts Canada by 49 runs and qualified for the final of the Tri-Nation Series at the Maple Leaf North West Ground in Toronto.
Canada, replying to West Indies’ total of 303 for four, were bowled out for 254 off 47.2 overs.
Jamaican Brendan Nash ended with three for 56 off his 10 overs. Dave Mohammed chipped in with two for 34.
Earlier opener Xavier Marshall was the top scorer for West Indies with an attacking 157 off 118 balls. Leon Johnson 51 and Nash 39 not out supported.
The Caribbean side won its opening game against Bermuda earlier this week.
West Indies are using the Tri-Nation Series as a build up to the Champions Trophy.
Over in Leeds, hosts England beat South Africa by 20 runs in the first of the five-match One-Day Series.
England batted first and posted 257 for four from its allotted 50overs with Kevin Pietersen topscoring with an undefeated 90 against Jacques Kallis two for 25.
South Africa in search of 258 for victory were then bowled out for 255 with two balls remaining.
