A popular bus driver who plies the Mandeville to Kingston route was shot and killed this morning along a section of Highway 2000 in St. Catherine.

Our News Centre has not yet received the official police report.

However, it is understood that the bus driver, identified only has ‘Super’ was shot while running away from gunmen, who robbed him and passengers of money and cellular phones.

It is reported that Super had stopped to help a fellow bus driver, whose vehicle had broken down, when men came out of the bushes and held up the drivers and passengers.

Super reportedly ran and was chased and shot by the gunmen.

The police are still on the scene.

The body has not yet been removed.

The incident has resulted in traffic changes along Highway 2000.

Motorists travelling east along the Toll Road are being asked to exit at Spanish Town.

Meanwhile, those travelling to Kingston from Spanish Town via Highway 2000 are being urged to use the Mandela Highway.
